Captain Drew's family has lived on the Eastern Shore for hundreds of years. Captain Drew's great grandfather, Mitt Bundick was a legend in his own time and served as a mentor to nationally known sculptor, Dr. William Turner. Dr. Turner's books are full of stories of his adventures with Mitt. Drew's uncles and father taught him hunting, trapping, and fishing from a very young age. He grew up exploring the barrier islands of the seaside and the creeks along the Chesapeake Bay. He has worked as a fur trapper, oyster farmer, and commercial fisherman. After graduating from high school, he started guiding with Grayson Chesser at Holden Creek Hunt Club. Grayson said "He wouldn't have hired someone so young if he hadn't known his pedigree". Drew guided with Grayson until he retired from guide service in 2017. Drew was asked by the Virginia Folklife Program to participate in the National Folklife Festival in Richmond, VA because of his skills as a trapper. In 2018, he participated in the Virginia Folklife's Master and Apprentice Program in Charlottesville, Va where he exhibited his work as a decoy carver under the guidance of Master Carver Grayson Chesser. He has quickly become an accomplished carver. Many of the decoys you will be hunting over, Drew has made himself.
